RESULT: WI won by an inning and 23 runs

Taylor's shining moment of the 4th day was the prized wicket of Kevin Pietersen. With his first ball after lunch he uprooted Pietersen's off-stump with a wicked, late away-swinging yorker. From that point forward England suffered a sensational collapse as they sputtered to 26-7 before Flintoff gave them a glimmer of hope.

Reactions
England captain Andrew Strauss - "We were entirely outplayed by a very good West Indies side and haven't done ourselves justice. Our bowlers stuck to the task but we batted very poorly and paid the price. All credit to Jerome, he was straight and fast but we didn't react well. If you want to win you need to be able to absorb pressure and come out the other side - we didn't do that today."

West Indies captain Chris Gayle rememnbering the day West Indies callapsed for just 47 runs five years ago, when Steve Harmison's 7-12 earned England a 10-wicket win at Sabina Park said: "It brings back a lot of memories, it's a different way around this time, I'm happy for that. No-one expected this game to finish on the fourth day before tea."
"England are the better team, we're trying to rebuild. It's a good start and hopefully we can capitalise on this. The last time we had a start like this against South Africa, we lost the series 2-1. But it's good to see our all-round cricket come together in this game."

WI supporter SvennGoranEriksson (on BBC 606) predicted that West Indies to win by an innings and 23 runs. Surely that is exactly what happended. When asked about his prediction he replied "My 'West Indies to win by an innings and 23 runs' was, of course, simply a wind up. Even I could not have guessed at how pathetic England would perform, but I am enjoying a good laugh here."

A dispondent England supporter (on BBC 606): "Well this is the death knell for English cricket. Its truly dying in Jamaica. Cook and Bell should never be allowed to play for England again. We've lost this match and with it the series..."

England supporter (on BBC 606): "I don't think this would have happened with KP as captain - Strauss is a nice public schoolboy but he doesn't seem to have any leadership qualities or any determination to win. When the going gets tough we need a winner in charge not a nice chap who barely justifies his selection."

Graham Gooch, the former England captain believes the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction was a distraction. "The England team say there has been no distraction with the IPL. But when all these background influences are going on, it's not the best environment to give your best performances. For Andrew Strauss to say it's hardly been mentioned doesn't seem believable to me. I'm sure the IPL has come into the background in discussions."

Former England Test icon Sir Ian Botham commenting on Jamaican fast bowler Jerome Taylor said: "That piece of quick bowling was as good as I've seen for a long time. England were hit with both barrels and didn't expect it. I thought the batting was ordinary".

After the humiliation England fast bowler Stephen Harmison said "I have never felt worse in my cricketing career than I do now. Five years ago I produced my best ever bowling spell here, 7-12, as we routed West Indies for 47 to win the first Test and set up a series victory. Now I know what it's like to be on the other end - and it's crap. A score of 51 all out is inexplicable. It is just impossible to look at our score and make any sense of it. I would never say for a moment this was just down to the batters. It was a flimsy batting performance, yes, but by every single one of us and we must all take individual responsibility for what happened."
